Spring Break....

Does anyone's break look like mine?

We Published our Non-Fiction Books!!!

Hey blogger friends,

We have just finished reading, researching, typing, and locating pictures about animals. It took us a while to complete the project but we are proud of the outcome. Her are a few pictures of the topics and the inside of the book.

The kids really enjoyed reading their books to another class.

Some of my students turned their books into a video. Check this one out below!!!

Weeks full of informational text and resources

The past few week of school have been quite  extremely busy. We have been learning all about how to read non-fiction. My favorite all time resource to use during this unit is the Primary Comprehension Toolkit by Stephanie Harvey. This is an easy read and has a strategy to meet all students. My students loved the text that comes with the kit. This toolkit has helped my students truly develop a love for reading.

Another good resource we used during our exploring non-fiction unit was the website pebblesgo.com. It is one of the best research web based programs I have ever seen. It has information on just about any topic. There are many other GREAT tools about this website. It reads the text to students. They have videos and pictures for students to see the topic in action. The BEST tool thus far is that it has no ads and all student friendly visuals. I wish I could say the same about my favorite search engine google.com.  Unfortunately it is not free and cost a pretty wealthy penny, however; if you are a teacher they will give you a free 2 week trial. And who doesn't love free?

Check these 2 resources out!!!

Hey Guys!!

Hello my blogger family,

I am glad you came to visit. I am hoping that I can post often the events that happenn in my wonderful first grade classroom and school. I'm sure like my school, in your school or life , there is not a day where an event is not worth capturing. Like when the pricipal dresses up like the old lady who sawllowed a fly.
Or when you get a new student, named Jordan, that's a teddy bear in you class.
And definitely when the Grinch comes to visit. My students won't talking about this!!!
This blog will be dedicated to all the wonderful events that as a teacher makes you smile, reflect, and/or learn from. I hope you join me in this journey and enjoy the events as much as I do.
