Measuring Everywhere and Everything!!!

We just finished up our lessons on using non-standard units to measure items in our world. My students were so excited they even wanted to measure when we came back from our field trips. They used many different items to measure and discuss how the length of each object. Here are some pics.
Students learned how to join strings to find the length of the computer  cart.

They used 2 different forms of measurements to compare.
Their favorite was measuring the carpet with Dum-Dums.

We wrote a letter to the 1st grade classes so that they could know how to measure as well.

Technology Savvy...

We are still working hard on learning how to use a computer. This week we mastered how to use Paint. Our plan is to use this to develop our illustrations for our stories and other areas. We also have been practicing with clip art. I think they are much better at this than I am. By the time they reach 3rd grade they will be technology savvy!!!

Learning Through Vodcast

Hey fellow bloggers,

I have been working real hard on trying to use technology in my classroom. One interesting thing I have learned to use is called Vodcast. It is a video broadcast that you can use in many ways. One way I have used it, is to review skills. Below you will find a vodcast I created to review nouns.
